What is a podcast?

Podcasts are audio or video files that are delivered through an application on your computer, similar to email. Instead of reading, you can listen to, or watch, a podcast using iTunes or another application that supports podcasting. You can also play podcasts on an iPod, iPhone or many other portable players. While podcasting was named for the iPod, you do not have to have an iPod to enjoy a podcast - you can play them on most any computer.

Why would you want to subscribe to a podcast?

Podcasts are extremely useful you can choose what to subscribe to, when to download it, and when you want to listen to it or watch it. You can sync your podcasts with a portable media player and listen or watch anywhere.

How do I receive podcasts?

Here are three simple steps get access to podcasts:

Choose a podcast application such as iTunes or Google Reader. Or you can sync a portable device (like an iPod or iPhone) with your computer. Most computers now come with this software pre-installed.

When a new video is added to the Avatar Video Podcast page, it will show up in your podcast application giving you the option to download it.

Download Information

In order to play a podcast in your media player (iPod, iPhone, MP3 player) you will need to download the file to your computer first. The Avatar Video Podcasts are available as free downloads most any podcast application.

Download times will vary depending upon the size of the media file. Videos of substantial length may take as much as 20 minutes to download, depending upon the speed of your Internet connection. Please be patient. You can start the download then return to the Avatar Podcast page and view the program as the file downloads to your computer.

Your podcast application will play the video after it's downloaded. You can also upload it directly to your video media player (iPod, for example) just as you would an audio file. You will need to make sure that you have a media player that supports video playback.
